Consumption, Turnover & Surplus
Three terms that come up often in the community's daily operations โ briefly explained.
Consumption
The total amount of energy our members use โ both from the energy community and from the regular electricity provider.
Turnover
The portion of energy we actually used together within the community. The "heartbeat" of our EG, so to speak.
Surplus
Electricity that was generated but isn't currently needed by us. It's resold to external buyers โ usually at worse prices than within the community.
Self-Consumption Rate (SCR)
๐ Especially important for producers!
What does SCR mean?
The self-consumption rate shows how much of the electricity generated in the community is used directly by members โ instead of being sold externally.
An example: An SCR of 30% means only one-third of the cheap, green electricity is consumed locally. The rest goes to external buyers like รMAG or EVN at much worse prices.
Our goal: 100%
Ideally, all generated electricity stays in the community โ that's efficient, fair, and good for everyone.
Tip for consumers
Move energy-intensive activities โ washing machine, dishwasher, EV charging โ to midday hours. This way you use cheap solar power, save noticeably, and at the same time help increase the community's self-consumption.
Autarky Rate (AR)
๐ Especially important for consumers!
What does autarky rate mean?
The autarky rate shows how much of your personal electricity consumption is covered by the community.
If your AR is 10%, only 10% of your electricity comes from the EG โ you pay for the remaining 90% with your regular provider. Usually significantly more expensive.
Our goal: 100%
In the best case, you cover your entire needs through the community.
Calculation example: With 4,000 kWh annual consumption and savings of about 14 ct/kWh, that's around โฌ560 less per year.
