Upper Triesting Valley Energy Community: Great Turnout at Info Evening
On January 9, 2025, an info evening about the Upper Triesting Valley Energy Community took place at the Pfarrheim Weissenbach. The event met with overwhelming interest: more than 100 citizens and local decision-makers took the opportunity to learn about this innovative energy project.
Energy communities are a forward-looking approach to producing, using, and locally distributing renewable energy together. The concept is inspiring more and more people because it not only enables sustainable energy supply but also promotes local value creation and environmental protection.
What is an Energy Community?
An energy community allows surplus energy from renewable sources – such as photovoltaics or hydropower – to be shared within the community. Producers, called prosumers, can pass on their surplus electricity at fair rates to other members. All participants remain independent and keep their existing electricity contracts, ensuring continuous supply.
